Martha J. McGeary Snider is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and patron of the arts and humanities who actively advocates for the important role that creativity, innovation and civility hold in our society. Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell appointed Ms. McGeary Snider to serve as Policy Advisor on Arts and Culture, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where she served for both of his terms in office from 2003 through 2011.
Ms. McGeary Snider played a key role in founding the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia where she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the George Washington Council and Revolution Society. As a trustee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art since 1992, she serves as Chair of the Committee for European Painting and Sculpture Before 1950. Ms. McGeary Snider has also served as a trustee or director on many boards, including ten years as the Chair of the Medici Archive Project in Florence, Italy, during which time she conceived and coordinated two major museum exhibitions. In collaboration with The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and the Museo Galileo in Florence, Italy, Galileo, the Medici and the Age of Astronomy opened in 2009 to extolling international reviews. This exhibition included Galileo's original telescope, which travelled for the first time in its 400-year history outside of Florence. In 2011, Ms. McGeary Snider facilitated the collaboration between the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Fondazione Roberto Capucci to create Robert Capucci: Art into Fashion. This highly acclaimed and breathtaking exhibition was the first survey of Capucci's work to come to the United States.
Additionally, Ms. McGeary Snider has served as a trustee or director on numerous boards, including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Susquehanna Art Museum and the Philadelphia Live Arts and Fringe Festival, where she helped to secure a new state of the art performance space. She has also served on the boards of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Moore College of Art, the Gettysburg Festival, the International Visitors Council and Rosemont College. She received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in Philanthropy in 2009. Ms. McGeary Snider is a member of the Union League in Philadelphia and a member of the National Council on White House History of the White House Historical Association.
In 2023, Ms. McGeary Snider co-founded CecureCor in response to the world's growing need for safety and security solutions. As the Chief Executive Officer of CecureCor, Ms. McGeary Snider leads its mission as a best-in-class solutions, products and service resource for safety, security and mental wellbeing for those leaders who must make the complex decisions around protecting those who depend upon them. Since 2018, Ms. McGeary Snider has held the position as VP of Organizational Strategies for Source Digital, a data platform that increases revenues from content by turning data into actionable purchases, resulting in the creation of commerce in digital media content.
Ms. McGeary Snider continues to lead the Guildford Consulting Group, LLC, which she founded in 2012 to create innovative approaches to business development and strategic relationship building for new and established companies, foundations and ventures specializing in technology, media, community relations, arts and entertainment. She is the founder and Advisory Specialist of Virtu Advisory, which specializes exclusively in fine arts placement and valuation.
Earlier in her career, in addition to her ownership role, Ms. McGeary Snider held positions in management and design at Spectacor and Comcast-Spectacor, most notably leading all aspects of design for a sports and entertainment arena in Philadelphia, now called the Wells Fargo Center. She began her career as an artist, an art educator and a museum administrator.
Ms. McGeary Snider holds a BFA from Temple University's Tyler School of Art, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and later received recognition as a Distinguished Graduate from Temple University. She studied Italian language at Rosemont College where she established the Martha McGeary Snider Scholarship for Italian Study Abroad. She is most proud to be the mother of two adult children, Sarena and Samuel, and resides near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
