ASBURY PARK, NJ, September 28, 2023 - Alexis Soyini Crawford has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
During a time when women had limited educational opportunities, Dr. Crawford broke barriers and pursued a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education from The College of New Jersey. After graduating in 1972, the first of her family to earn a college degree, she began her robust educational career as a health and physical education teacher. While teaching, she identified a need to further support students, and thus founded Project Hope, an outreach afterschool program designed to provide children, particularly those struggling, with a safe haven during after-school hours. For over a decade, she led this program with the goal of supporting and reinforcing students' educational process.
To see Project Hope truly flourish in her community, and incorporate faith into the program, Dr. Crawford pursued a master's degree in urban missions at Westminster Theological Seminary. Driven by her passion and dedication to making a difference, she thereafter earned another master's degree in educational leadership and administration, becoming certified as a supervisor and principle. Following her second master's degree, she went on to found Hope Academy Charter School, where she operated as the chief school administrator for nearly a decade, and held membership with the New Jersey Charter Schools Association.
Since 2012, Dr. Crawford has parlayed her educational experience into her consulting work to help individuals and businesses prosper in education, ministry, and entrepreneurial ventures. While assisting other businesses, such as Power 2 Live & Learn Group, LLC, she has also started businesses of her own. In 2021, she became the owner and chief executive officer of Salt & Light Publications, which she still runs, and earned her doctorate in strategic leadership with a concentration and certification in global consulting from Regent University. As an entrepreneur on a mission to help others, she started ASC Ministry Enterprises to provide consulting and leadership training services to help leaders optimize their presence in the marketplace.
Through ASC Ministry Enterprises, Dr. Crawford offers a number of resources, including a podcast, which she hosts, to share her teachings and insights. Along with her consulting work, she has authored a handful of books, most recently being "God's Prophetic Strategy: A Blueprint for Building Leaders" and "On the Page With Leadership: Insights for Ministry and the Marketplace". Over the course of a career that spans nearly five decades, across the sectors of education, company development, and professional consulting and evaluation services, Dr. Crawford's most outstanding achievement still remains the establishment of Hope Academy Charter School. Due to the school's efforts, whole households benefited; not only were students able to gain access to high-level high schools, but students' parents were encouraged to achieve their educational goals as well.
Dr. Crawford attributes her success to her parents' unwavering support and belief in her; her mother, in particular, whose recognition of her achievements was a constant source of motivation, inspired her to keep pushing through with grit and determination. For her everlasting and impactful contributions to her community, Dr. Crawford has earned numerous awards, such as the Dr. Martin Luther Kind, Jr. Heroine Award from Monmouth University and the Educational Achievement Award, presented by The Central Jersey Club of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club. Moreover, she has received recognition from the New Jersey state senate for her service, leadership, and commitment, earning her hall of fame recognition.
Both her faith and her motto—"As He is, so also are we in this world," John 4:17—are the cornerstone of Dr. Crawford's work. Looking forward to the next five years, Dr. Crawford has set her sights on an ambitious goal: to travel overseas and provide workshops and consulting services to help individuals recognize how their businesses have divine purpose. Moreover, she has plans to establish compounds in Africa and other countries, in partnership with the Apostolic Center New Jersey, which will function as both living spaces and educational institutions, with the goal of providing people with opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become self-sufficient. Dr. Crawford's vision is one of empowerment and independence, and she is committed to making opportunities accessible and obtainable for all.
