Marquis Who's Who Honors Tuere Anne Marshall, EdD, for Expertise in Education and Consulting

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 22, 2023 - Tuere Anne Marshall, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Marshall retired from the classroom after more than 15 years in higher education. Having spent the latter portion of her career at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, she rose from an assistant professor in 2007 to an associate professor in 2012 and full professor between 2019 and 2021. While teaching on campus, Dr. Marshall also served as a professor of English at Gateway Academic Program Inc., a nonprofit educational organization in Washington, D.C., from 2013 to 2014.

Having taught English as an adjunct professor at Bowie State University in Maryland from 2006 to 2007, Dr. Marshall subsequently served in the same capacity at the University of the District of Columbia in Washington between 1999 and 2009. Before teaching, she succeeded in administrative roles with Dickstein Shapiro LLP and Resorts International.

In retirement, Dr. Marshall has focused on branding herself as a student success advocate by offering comprehensive consulting services to clients. Leveraging her wealth of experience and passion for education, she has positioned herself as a dedicated mentor as students navigate their paths. Among a range of services, Dr. Marshall offers mentoring opportunities, speaking engagements specifically for graduate students, and presentations for diverse events to foster student progress. To further enhance her place at the forefront of educational consulting, she has been broadening her exposure to various opportunities to improve her ability to positively impact students.

A well-written author, Dr. Marshall published "Are Parents Sabotaging Their Children?" in 2013 and "Does the 97% Literacy Rate in Cuba Absolve Castro?" in 2014 via Brainpower Movement.

Among her most notable community efforts, Dr. Marshall has been affiliated with D.C. Grandparents for Mental Health, a subsidiary of HelpAge USA, in Washington, D.C., and GirlTREK, a national lifesaving sisterhood and initiative dedicated to addressing intergenerational trauma, systemic racism, and catalyzing transformative change within black lives. She has also served as the assistant director for the American Classic Woman of the Year Pageant Organization since 2012, is an active member of the Morgan State University Alumni Association, and participates in various activities and charity work through her church. Dr. Marshall formerly served as a volunteer mentor for the Capital City Public Charter School from 2008 to 2012.

After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1969, Dr. Marshall studied at the University of the District of Columbia, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 1999. She then transferred to the University of New Hampshire, through which she received a Master of Art in English literature in 2001. Additionally, Dr. Marshall completed coursework toward a Doctor of Philosophy in English literature at Howard University before ultimately receiving a Doctor of Education in community college leadership from Morgan State University in 2022. Her dissertation title (published via ProQuest in 2022) is: "An Examination of the Effectiveness of English Developmental Education Strategies on Student Success and Completion."

Dr. Marshall has remained active in her professional community as a member of the National Association for Developmental Education. She has also served as the vice president of the alpha chapter of the University of the District of Columbia's Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society.

In honor of her hard work with the Gateway Academic Program Inc., Dr. Marshall was recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation from the College Success Foundation in 2013. She also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Montgomery College's board of trustees in 2021. For her civic contributions, Dr. Marshall was recognized as the Woman of the Year by the American Classic Woman of the Year Pageant Organization in 2012.
