He has served as an executive in residence for Columbia University's Business of Sports Management and taught Leadership and Crisis Management at NYU School of Sports Management. Mr. Ponturo is most known and established for his 26 years at Anheuser Busch, serving as CEO of Busch Media Group. During this time Mr. Ponturo was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame.
Mr. Ponturo gained valuable expertise in education and advertising with Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn, McCann-Erikson, D'arcy McManus Mass, and New York University's Tisch Sports Institute for Sports Management. In conjunction with his work, he dedicates himself to his community as a board member for various community and charitable organizations, and as an advisory board member with Villanova University's College of Arts and Sciences, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Due to his considerable breadth of knowledge, Mr. Ponturo has written a number of articles, including "Revenge of the C+ Student: Lessons on Life and Work" and "In Today's Industry, is Anyone Building a Culture Anymore?" In light of his outstanding body of work, he has been ranked among the Top 15 Most Powerful Voices in Sports annually for many years. In recent years, he has also won several Tony Awards for his work in the musical, "Memphis," and the Broadway revival of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" Although his career has been filled with standout moments, Mr. Ponturo takes the most pride in his tenure as chief executive officer of Anheuser-Busch Companies during which time he developed a marketing and buying agency and expanded their global market share to more than 30 percent.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Ponturo credits his success to good fortune, his ability to put others at ease, and his ability to be an astute listener.
