BROOKLYN, NY, July 27, 2023 - Alicia Wilson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A seasoned social worker with years of professional experience, Ms. Wilson excels as the New York director of social work for Uncommon Schools and as an adjunct faculty at Adelphi University. Previously, she served as the senior program manager and instructional designer consultant for the CUNY School of Professional Studies and as a field instructor at Columbia University. During the early stages of her career, Ms. Wilson gained valuable expertise in the field of education with ROADS Charter High School and in social work with START Treatment & Recovery Centers, Ross Global Academy, and the New York City Department of Education. As a young woman, Ms. Wilson worked with children from ages nine to 21 who had been locked up for misdemeanors and felonies. This inspired her and set her on her life's path.
Over the years, Ms. Wilson has earned a Master of Social Work from New York University and is completing a Ph.D. in the same discipline through Adelphi University. To date, she has completed a seminar in field instruction at her graduate alma mater, is a licensed clinical social worker through the New York State Department of Education, and received a mental health first aid certification through the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the National Association of Social Work and the Medical Reserve Corps. Within the next five years, Ms. Wilson will have obtained her Ph.D. From this body of work, she intends to help reduce the school-to-prison pipeline by providing more educational resources for incarcerated youth and those on the path to being detained by the criminal justice system and also to provide professional development to school social workers.
