Drawing on over four decades of expertise, Dr. Engelhardt specializes in mental health counseling and workplace health. Since 2017, she has found much success as an organizational psychologist and an independent consultant. During this time, she was also active as a mental health therapist at the Mental Health Center of Florida from 2020 to 2021. Prior to this role, she excelled as a management and program analyst for the United States Department of Defense from 2017 until 2019. Dr. Engelhardt initially began her vocation working for the United States Air Force, where she served as a central command staff officer between 1974 and 1992.
Dr. Engelhardt continued her career as the president and chief executive officer of Engelhardt Business Services Inc. from 1992 until 2003, while concurrently serving as a program manager and a forensic counselor for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice from 1997 to 1998. Between 2003 and 2006, she garnered expertise as a child and family community-based mental health counselor at BayCare Health Systems, followed by a position as a psychotherapist and outpatient program and clinic manager at The Apalachee Center from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Engelhardt also contributed to the Florida Department of State as a statewide low income, rural outreach and public information specialist, as well as an adjunct instructor of psychology at the South Florida State College.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Engelhardt first sought an education at the University of Central Florida, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in media communications in 1981. She continued her academic efforts at Troy University, earning a Master of Science in counseling and human development in 1985. In 2016, Dr. Engelhardt pursued her scholarly endeavors at Capella University, attaining a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial and organizational psychology.
As a commitment to her field, Dr. Engelhardt has been certified as a registered mental health counselor in the State of Florida by the Department of Health in 2005. Additionally, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Inc., the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association, among others. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Engelhardt serves as the founder of the Coalition of Forces for Veterans, Connecting the Red, White and Blue, and has contributed as a Board Officer for a $2M HOA, Founding Board for the Tender Loving Care Complex Inc., the American National Red Cross and more.
Well-regarded for her contributions to the United States Department of Defense, Dr. Engelhardt has received multiple awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud to have attained her doctorate degree and to have created the Military Veterans Initiative, which linked the Department of Defense with the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists. Reflecting on a long career, she attributes much of her success to her Christian faith. Looking toward the future, Dr. Engelhardt aspires to write more and hopes to influence the next generation of specialists in her field through speaking engagements and teaching opportunities.
