WEST HILLS, CA, July 06, 2023 - Han Dai-Yu has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging more than three decades of artistic talent in painting and traditional Chinese art, Mr. Dai-Yu has earned distinction as a professor with Loyola Marymount University. Since 2006, he has focused his efforts on teaching and leading the drawing studio, advising students on their academics as well as guiding them on cultivating their professional artistic talents. He has taught numerous courses at the university, including on drawing, figure composition, color theory and visualizing literature, among many others. He integrates traditional Chinese painting in his own art, creating figurative art, oil paintings and acrylic paintings with abstract ideas, creating expressive art representing social issues through his skillful blending of styles. Additionally, he lends his expertise to the Portrait Society of America.
Before his current role with Loyola Marymount University, Mr. Dai-Yu began his career as an instructor at the Zhejiang Institute of Design in China in 1991 and was an administrative assistant for the Shanghai Institute of Design in 1999. During this time, he also served as the artist-in-residence for Cité Internationale des Arts in France in 2001 and was an assistant professor for the China Academy of Art from 1999 until 2003. After immigrating to the United States, he functioned as an adjunct faculty member for the Cornish College of the Arts in 2003.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Dai-Yu has had his work published numerous times, starting with "Dai-Yu's Drawing Technique" in 1991 and "Dai-Yu's Oil Painting Technique" in 1992, both published with the International Culture Press, one of the most important art publishing houses in Taiwan. In 1998, he co-authored "Drawings of Virtuosos" with Chen Shouyi and published "Dai-Yu's Paintings with the China Academy of Art Press in 1999. He followed these up with "Drawing Code: East Meets West" in 2009 with University Readers and "Ignite the Soul: The Art of Figure Drawing" in 2014 with Cognella Academic Publishing.
Mr. Dai-Yu has exhibited his work internationally at the Shanghai Art Museum and the Museum of Chinese Painting Institute in Shanghai, the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, École des hautes études en sciences socials, the Los Angeles Contemporary Art Gallery, SCOPE Miami and at numerous contemporary art fairs. In 2015, he visited the Taiwan National University of Arts to exhibit his artwork as well as give guest lectures, later presenting a solo exhibition at the Charlotte Museum of History in 2015. He also authored an essay "Eastern Gems: Bringing Chinese Tradition to Western Art," which was published in the book "Across the Divide," highlighting his background as an artist and teacher who incorporates traditional Chinese thought and culture in art education and how these elements can advance students' learning in the visual arts. He was invited to lecture on this topic as well at the Across the Divide conference in Beijing.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Dai-Yu earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from the China Academy of Art in 1991. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the same institution in 1999. Looking to the future, he intends to complete his current series of work while providing more learning opportunities for his students.
