Presently a freelance financial controller and key production accountant at American Broadcasting Company in the Greater Los Angeles area since 2015, she provides her expertise in feature and television production finance, managing budgeting, weekly reports, hiring employees for the department, and other aspects of the role.
Ms. Selinger Martin began her career in the industry in 1980 at Columbia Pictures as the director of budgeting and production of finance. As the first female executive to secure a major studio production accounting position, she pioneered the industry, leading the way for other women. Ms. Selinger Martin was also responsible for bringing production accounting into the computerized world as the first major studio to use computers on local sites. Numerous feature films were also completed under her supervision, including "Ghostbusters," "Annie," "The Big Chill," "Karate Kid," and "Toy Story."
Over the next 35 years, Ms. Selinger Martin held many other roles, including as a feature film production accountant at HBO and Paramount Pictures and as a key production accountant on various television series, including "Jessica Jones" and "30 Rock." Outside the arts and entertainment industry, Ms. Selinger Martin was a worldwide controller for United Jewelry Trading Ltd. in London from 2002 to 2007.
While coming of age, Ms. Selinger Martin was encouraged by her mother to study ballet and, by age 15, had begun taking classes at Carnegie Hall. After graduating early, she began studying theater arts at Baylor University. Ms. Selinger Martin subsequently enrolled at the Pasadena Playhouse in California and eventually landed her first role in production for a feature film. Adding to her expertise, she completed coursework in accounting at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
