Dr. Maheshwari is a data scientist and professor celebrating more than four decades of distinction in his field. He began his career as a student at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Technology in electrical engineering. He continued his education with a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and completed his Doctor of Philosophy in management information systems at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in 1995. He has continued to pursue continuing education throughout his career, earning a certificate in organizational leadership from the IBM leadership development program in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Vedic literature from Maharishi International University in 2020.
After completing his MBA education, Dr. Maheshwari joined Wipro Information Technology Ltd., rising to become a senior marketing executive before departing in 1985 to accept a sales manager role with Computer Point India Ltd. He briefly served as a senior marketing manager for Savera Systems, Inc., and became a senior marketing manager for IBM in 2000. For the next nine years, Dr. Maheshwari focused on global marketing and strategic relationships, including developing IBM's partnership with Intel and managing emerging RFID technologies. After leaving IBM in 2009, Dr. Maheshwari held positions as director of marketing for Panduit and senior vice president at Quinnox before turning his focus to academia.
In addition to his success working in his industry, Dr. Maheshwari is a respected educator who has held faculty positions at the University of Cincinnati, the City University of New York, and the University of Illinois, among others. From 2009 until 2014 he served as an adjunct professor of management information systems at Colorado Technical University. Since 2012, he has been a professor of management and information systems and director of the Master of Business Administration program at Maharishi International University, and from 2017 until 2019, he concurrently taught at the Indian Institute of Management.
Dr. Maheshwari is extensively published, with 16 books and textbooks, more than 40 papers, and nearly 45 presentations at conferences and symposia. His book 'Data Analytics Made Accessible' is the most recommended book by many top universities. It has been published by McGraw-Hill and has also been translated into the Chinese. He is the recipient of a 2015 Maharishi Award from Maharishi International University, and is active in numerous community and business leadership organizations including the Academy of Management (AOM). He has been elected to the Executive Leadership for 2023-28 of the Management Spirituality and Religion (MSR) division of AOM.
