PFAFFTOWN, NC, June 30, 2023 - Dr. LaShan M. Lovelace has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Lovelace is a higher education executive administrator celebrating nearly a decade of specializing in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. He has held leadership roles with Forsyth Technical Community College since 2021, when he was named Vice President for Inclusive Excellence and Employee Care. Since 2022, he has served as the school's Chief Inclusive Excellence and Belonging Officer, where he is responsible for ensuring equity, accessibility, and belonging are central to operations, development, and planning. Dr. Lovelace joined Forsyth Technical Community College following a year as Syracuse University's first Director of Institutional Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, a position he considers a career highlight.
Between 2015 and 2018, he was an administrator for Radford University, starting as assistant director of student standards and conduct before serving in a dual capacity as the director of the center for diversity and inclusion, as well as, the interim director of fraternity and sorority life in 2017. He began his career in higher education in 2012 as a conduct officer for Liberty University.
Dr. Lovelace holds a Doctor of Education in higher education management and leadership from Walden University. A graduate of Liberty University, he completed a bachelor's degree in sports management in 2007 and a master's degree in management and leadership in 2011. He has completed additional coursework through eCornell and was a doctoral student researcher as a participant in the CITI program through 2021. Before entering higher education, Dr. Lovelace found success as a financial services employee with Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
In recognition of his professional commitment to institutional equity and access, Dr. Lovelace has been honored by the NAACP, the Urban League, and Forsyth Technical Community College, among others. He was an invited speaker at the 2022 State of Black North Carolina Conference. As a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, inc., Dr. Lovelace gives back to his community through multiple service initiatives focused on education, access, and empowerment. In his personal time, he enjoys travel, spending time with friends and family, and officiating high school and college-level basketball games. In the coming years, Dr. Lovelace hopes to become a full-time consultant or college president.
