In recent years there has been a step change in the way local schools present themselves. Gone are the days of photocopied reports, tatty hand-outs and hand written letters. Aware of their reputation in the local community and their desire to attract the best pupils, schools are producing their printed matter in a far more professional manner.
Part of creating or sustaining a positive image is about celebrating success and communicating good news. It is also about demonstrating that both staff and students are highly motivated and care about their school.
Dermot Browne has noticed that more schools in Ellesmere Port, Chester and the Wirral are now using their new-found independence to commission Prospectuses, Year Books, Theatre Programs, Brochures, Reviews and Posters. “Using professional photographers, copy writers and graphic designers means the finished documents are of a very high standard and put the school in the best light,” he says.
“Although schools with a good track record simply enhance their reputation, other less successful schools can improve their image. This enhanced image has been shown to have a positive influence on student and staff morale, exam performance and even student behaviour.”
Dermot and his team have considerable experience working with schools to enhance their printed materials and create the right image in the community. “At the moment some schools are keen to create Yearbooks for their leavers. These act as an incredible marketing tool, attracting both new students and teachers. Yearbooks are kept for many years and are frequently passed around family and friends”.
