Naprapathic Manual Medicine Receives Approval and Licensure from the State of Nevada

CARSON CITY, NV, June 19, 2023 - The Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine (SUNM) is thrilled to announce that during the 2023 Nevada Legislative session, Assembly Bill 153, the Naprapathic Practice Act, was introduced by Assemblywomen Elaine Marzola District 21, allowing for the licensure of Naprapaths to practice in Nevada.

AB 153 passed unanimously and unopposed in the State Assembly and Senate and was signed into law by Governor Joseph Lombardo on June 9th, 2023. This groundbreaking development marks a significant milestone for both Naprapathic Medicine and for the state of Nevada, introducing this non-pharmacological option to the citizens of Nevada. Naprapathic Medicine treats neuromuscular skeletal pain manually without drugs of any kind and is a viable option to the overprescribed and potentially lethal opioid painkillers.

Naprapathic Medicine, was founded in 1906 right alongside Chiropractic Medicine, and is a specialized branch of manual medicine that focuses on the evaluation and treatment of the soft and connective tissue in the body. Naprapaths are considered connective tissue specialists. With the recent approval and licensure, doctors, healthcare practitioners, and those wanting to seek a healthcare career in the highly sought-after field of manual medicine, will now have the opportunity to become licensed Naprapaths, expanding their expertise, becoming connective tissue specialists and providing comprehensive care to their patients.

The approval from the state of Nevada recognizes the immense value and efficacy of Naprapathy in addressing the growing need for non-invasive, drug-free treatments for pain management and musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Patrick Nuzzo, President of SUNM, expressed his delight at the recent development, stating, "We are honored to be granted this approval and licensure of Naprapathy in the state of Nevada. This acknowledgment validates the effectiveness of this specialized manual medicine and offers new opportunities for healthcare professionals to expand their knowledge and enhance patient care."

SUNM has plans of branching a campus to Nevada, offering a Doctor of Naprapathic Medicine (DN) degree, and is excited to pioneer this new era of healthcare in the state. SUNM looks forward to collaborating with healthcare professionals, institutions, and organizations to advance the field of Naprapathy.
