HOUSTON, TX, June 16, 2023 - Victoria Jewel Kwentua has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Kwentua has excelled as a graduate research assistant at the University of Texas Health Science Center. She initially obtained a bachelor's degree in liberal arts with a concentration in biomedical studies from Louisiana Scholars' College at Northwestern State University. Soon thereafter, she earned a master's degree in maternal and child health from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Ms. Kwentua is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Ms. Kwentua garnered valuable professional experience as a summer research intern, an algebra and logic teaching assistant, a student life and athletics intern and an obstetrics and gynecology graduate research assistant. Additionally, she flourished as a maternal health project coordinator for two years and was designated as a Graduate Student Epidemiology Program fellow for the Health Resources and Services Administration. Ms. Kwentua is also active as a member of the American Public Health Association, Alpha Epsilon Delta National Health Pre-Professional Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi National Liberal Arts Honor Society.
As a testament to her stellar expertise and contributions, Ms. Kwentua accepted the Dr. Otis Calvin Turner endowed scholarship in health promotion and behavioral science and the Maternal and Child Health Fellowship Award. Likewise, she was the recipient of the Kenneth Cooper Outstanding Master in Student Research and the Sharma Fellowship Endowed Fund for excellence in community, nutrition, health and wellness. Having proudly volunteered as a peer mentor for the Women's Resource Center, she was drawn to her field after noticing that many women needed strong figures to advocate for them. In the future, Ms. Kwentua hopes to make public health a more expansive field and to advance into a high-ranking role at a nonprofit organization that serves women and children.
