Jacqueline C. Hayes has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

CHICAGO, IL, June 14, 2023 - Jacqueline C. Hayes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging more than four decades of excellence in real estate, construction and accounting, Ms. Hayes has earned distinction as the president of Jacqueline Hayes & Associates, Ltd. Since 1983, she has focused her efforts on high end retail listings, helping people to find spaces that are appropriate for their business in the Gold Coast area of Chicago. During her leadership, she has completed over 750 transactions totaling over 5.5 million square feet valued in excess of $1 billion.

Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Hayes is proud to have had her stellar work featured in numerous articles. She was honored with a Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Biographical Institute and was named Broker of the Year by the Chicago Sun-Times in 1986. Additionally, she was named One of the Top Businesswomen by Crain's Chicago Business in 1990, a Woman of Destiny from 1990 through 1992, and One of 100 Women Who Make a Difference by Today's Chicago Woman in 1995. She has appeared on television, radio programs and other media outlets to speak on her experience, as well as to discuss her documentary, "I Have a Name." This film, directed by Lucia Mauro, won Best Documentary at the Mirabile Dictu International Catholic Film Festival and a Spotlight Silver Award from the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards in 2020. It tells the story of The Chicago Help Initiative, a nonprofit established by Ms. Hayes to assist the homeless or otherwise disadvantaged population in Chicago.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Hayes began her career as a building manager with LaSalle Bank Building in 1978 and became the vice president and general manager of The Hayman Co. in 1981. Following this time, she served as a partner with The Retail Group from 1986 until 1993. Outside of her primary career efforts, she is a valued member of the retail task force for the City of Chicago on Central Area Plan.

Also dedicated to civil advocacy, Ms. Hayes serves as the founder and president of The Chicago Help Initiative, which she established in 1999, and lends her expertise as a liaison to the real estate committee for the Streeterville Organization of Active Residents. She is a member of the board of directors for the franchising task force and chairman of the nominating committee for Holsten Human Capital Development, and has been a spokesperson for the Magnificent Mile Association since 1986. In recognition of her volunteer efforts, she received a Leadership Award from Mayor Richard Daley in 2005, a Certificate of Leadership from the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago in 1997, a Recognition Award from Chicago Public Schools in 2005 and a Star Award from Literacy Chicago the same year. She was honored with a Valued Volunteer Award in 2005 and a Betty G. Eaton Spirit Award in 2006 from Streeterville Organization of Active Residents, received an award from HELP in 2007 and gained a Dorris B. and Marshal Holleb Community Service Award in 2017. The following year, she also received a Senior Award from the Mayor of the City of Chicago.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Hayes completed coursework in management from DePaul University in 1977. Well-qualified in her field, she has been a licensed real estate broker in Illinois since 1983. She originally entered retail leasing at a time when there were no other women in the business, but despite this, retailers were open to collaborating with her and recognized her talents. She also chose to focus her efforts on Michigan Avenue and Oak Street because she lived within walking distance at the time and noticed there were high rent and commission values for those properties. This early success granted her a wealth of opportunities to continue growing her success in the field despite the inherent challenges, especially now after the pandemic has desecrated retail along Michigan Avenue.

Ms. Hayes has begun writing a memoir while continuing her work in the retail leasing industry. She also is in the process of franchising The Chicago Help Initiative, as the nonprofit enables disadvantaged people to engage in productive activities in their communities.
