CAMP HILL, PA, June 08, 2023 - Fay Burras McCrory, MA, is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Drawing on over four decades of expertise in the field of academia, Ms. McCrory specialized in mathematics education. From 1984 and until her retirement in 2004, she built a prolific career as a mathematics professor at Penn State Harrisburg, also called The Capital College of The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to this role, she was active as a mathematics professor at Lebanon Valley College from 1963 to 1983. Ms. McCrory initially began her vocation serving in a similar capacity at Randolph College between 1961 and 1963.

Ms. McCrory's drive to pursue her career path derived from her father, who taught her and her sister mathematical games, which incited her passion for teaching and the subject of mathematics. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she first sought an education at Lebanon Valley College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1960. She continued her academic efforts at Smith College, earning a Master of Arts in mathematics in 1961. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. McCrory has been active with the Prayer Shawl Ministry, where she creates shawls for those in need of comfort and solace, as well as those in celebration and joy.

Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. McCrory has been recognized as a Marquis Who's Who Top Professor. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud to have fostered an interest and a love for mathematics in her students, and to have motivated them to succeed. Reflecting on a long career, she attributes much of her success to her father, as well as to her teachers and mentors, specifically Dr. Barney Bissinger, who was a professor and a mathematics chairman at Lebanon Valley College. Looking toward the future, Ms. McCrory aspires to continually contribute to her community through her church and the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
