Ms. Goodman-Milone initially began her career serving as an editorial assistant at Chelsea House Publishers LLC from 1986 to 1987. Following this post, she was active as a freelance writer in Philadelphia and New York from 1987 until 1996. She then contributed to the Veterans Administration Medical Center for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs as a social work intern, followed by a role as a case manager in skilled nursing with HealthSouth. In time, Ms. Goodman-Milone contributed to a series of radio talk shows on Close-Up Radio, where she discussed such meaningful topics as, the healing power of poetry and the importance of philanthropy and charitable donations.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Goodman-Milone pursued an education at The George Washington University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1985. She continued her academic efforts at Barry University, earning a Master of Social Work in 1999. As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Miami Poets Chapter of the Florida State Poets Association, the Academy of American Poets, the National Writers Union, the National Association for Poetry Therapy and the National Association of Social Workers, among many others. Dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Goodman-Milone contributes to Doctors Without Borders, the American Section of World Jewish Congress, American Jewish World Service, UNHCR (the United Nations Refugee Agency), Amnesty International USA, the United Services Organization, National Wildlife Federation, Defenders of Wildlife, Sandy Hook Promise, and more.
Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Goodman-Milone has served as President and is current Community Relations Director of the South Florida Writers Association. She has served as Chair and Director of the Junior Orange Bowl Creative Writing Contest. Ms. Goodman-Milone is a hospice volunteer with VITAS Healthcare in Miami. She has received multiple awards, including the Special Merit Award from the South Florida Writers Association, an Exemplary Medal from the Miami-Dade County School Board, Bereavement Volunteer of the Year Award from VITAS Healthcare, Eleven Year Length of Service Award from VITAS Healthcare, VITAS Best Award, the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and the Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award, to only name a few. Additionally, she has been included in the Marquis Who's Who in the World publication and recognized as a Marquis Who's Who Top Professional and a Marquis Who's Who Industry Leader.
