Since 2022, he has focused his efforts on working with Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) technology. Prior to his current role, Dr. Yang began his career as a postdoctoral researcher with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2017.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Yang earned a Bachelor of Arts in microbiology from Cornell University in 2009. Following this achievement, he attained a Doctor of Philosophy in biology with a focus on molecular genetics from the University of California, San Diego.
Within the coming years, Dr. Yang intends to continue working in molecular genetics, specializing in utilizing CRISPR to attempt to solve problems in the field. With an affinity for particularly challenging issues, he used enhanced CRISPR to delete a critical estrogen enhancer in breast cancer cells for his Doctor of Philosophy program, studying its effects on the entirety of the cell network. He is also proud to have been part of advancements in the current molecular genetics unit at his company and to have introduced technological innovations for them.
