Mr. King is a founding partner and current President of Dewsnup King Olsen Worel Havas, where he has practiced law since 1990. A well-known and highly respected plaintiff's trial lawyer, he has obtained scores of multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements in medical malpractice and product defect cases against major corporations including automobile manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals as well as oil and coal mining companies. Notably, he accumulated vital experience in a small plaintiff antitrust law firm before identifying his strengths in litigating catastrophic injury cases.
Mr. King boasts exceptional academic success, having earned a B.A. in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, in 1975 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Utah in 1978. As a trial lawyer he has been inducted into the most prestigious, by invitation-only, trial lawyer organizations in America, including the American Board of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Inner Circle of Advocates, an organization that is comprised of the 100 top-rated plaintiff trial lawyers in the United States; currently, he is its sole representative from the state of Utah. Upon review of his most outstanding litigation successes, Mr. King cites a $10.5 million product liability case that resulted in Utah's first major punitive damage jury verdict. Mr. King filed the first lawsuits in Utah on behalf of Utah counties and now represents 17 of the 29 counties against opioid manufacturing firms, retailers, and distributors. The resulting settlements from these claims are going back to the counties to help local communities provide assistance and funds to combat opioid addiction.
Looking toward the future, Mr. King aims to maintain his level of activity in trying cases primarily in medical malpractice and defective products cases representing individuals and families who have experienced catastrophic consequences. Additionally, Mr. King will continue to collaborate in advancing the firm and help install a viable succession plan to accommodate his eventual retirement.
