VERMONTVILLE, MI, May 17, 2023 - Cameron J. Abfalter has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on more than three decades of experience, Mr. Abfalter is distinguished as the owner of C&H Underground, an excavation services company specializing in city water and sewer, greenfield construction and septic tank services. He was inspired to start his own business after friends, who worked for the Eaton County drain commissioner, offered him an opportunity to provide drain cleaning services for the municipality. Mr. Abfalter named the company C&H Underground after his first name and that of his daughter, Hayden.
Mr. Abfalter's successful career follows in the footsteps of his father, who worked for a large excavating contracting company; at an early age, he had already picked up many skills from his father, including operating scrapers and other large equipment, and by the time he was 12, he was making building pads for Walmart and Lowes. Before turning his hobby into his profession in 2011, he worked as a mechanic, specializing on semi-trucks and tankers, as a firefighter, and as a machinist for General Motors Company.
Outside of his main career path, Mr. Abfalter is extremely active with the Vermontville Fire Department, where he has served as a volunteer firefighter since 2009. Since 2019, he has served as the department's lieutenant, and he is currently a member of its Truck Purchasing Committee.
Of his many professional achievements, Mr. Abfalter is especially proud of starting and growing his company during the Great Recession, a challenge that required extensive networking and risk-taking. He was also honored to be cited in local newspapers for his contributions to the community. Among his other accomplishments, Mr. Abfalter has achieved certifications in Confined Spaces, Hazardous Materials and Advanced Wastewater. He is a certified Ice Rescue Technician, has completed courses in fire science at Lansing Community College and holds a high school diploma.
Outside of work, Mr. Abfalter enjoys camping and off-roading with four-wheel-drive trucks and Jeeps. Looking toward the future, he strives to expand his excavation business into the infrastructure sector.
