Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in researching cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying enhanced thrombus formation associated with cardiovascular diseases risk factors, Dr. Cox has earned distinction as a registered nurse with UT Health East Texas, in Tyler, TX. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on providing exceptional care to the patients and assisting cardiologists during the entire process of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including immediate cardiac revascularization during cardiac emergencies, saving patients' lives in the process. She published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed American Journals such as Hypertension, Blood, Circulation, and her research in area of thrombosis and coagulation has over 900 citations. Recently she joined Civil Air Patrol at Longview, TX.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Cox was a postdoctoral fellow with the LSU Health Sciences Center, Shreveport, in 2008 bringing a wealth of research to the LSU Health Science Center from Russia. She served as a lecturer for the University of Texas at Tyler in 2019. A proud immigrant who has been recognized by numerous academic professionals, Dr. Cox received a Malcolm Feist Fellowship Award and a Young Investigator Award, among other accomplishments. While conducting her foundational research, she discovered how platelets, immune cells, and cytokines contribute to prothrombotic phenotype illuminating the mechanisms by which thrombus (clot) is formed.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Cox earned a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in psychology and a master's degree in biology in 2003, both from Herzen State Pedagogical University in Russia. Following these achievements, she attained a Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology from the Research Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry named by I.M. Sechenov in Russia in 2006. After moving to the United States, she additionally gained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2021 with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Within the coming years, Dr. Cox intends to further her career in a medical field, pursuing additional education to improve her skills to allow her to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, providing excellence of health care to the patients with cardiovascular diseases and numerous other pathologic conditions.
