She currently champions as Director of Strategy for Definition 6, a digital marketing agency, since 2021. Ms. Pouncy owned the formation of the strategy department that is in charge of converting data and insights into actionable strategic plans or positioning that guides or influences unique audiences across the digital journey. She spearheads the strategic approach which typically starts with conducting research, capturing relevant audience insights to help inform how the strategy comes to life in the different digital marketing channels and how to speak to different audiences. For Ms. Pouncy, each project, client and deliverable are uniquely different and important, which is the biggest challenge and most interesting part of the job because it forces her to remain curious, continue learning and stay abreast to innovation that may be impacting a wide range of industries.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Pouncy was a Lead Marketing Strategy Consultant for digital channels, consumer experience and content for Capgemini from 2018 to 2021. Similarly, between 2012 and 2018, she held various roles to include: Marketing Lead/Senior Brand Marketing Manager for GameStop, Director of Marketing for Victoria's Secret, Global and Americas Marketing Manager for Skagen Denmark part of Fossil Group Inc., and Global Marketing Manager of Dockers Global Creative Services for Levi Strauss & Co.
Ms. Pouncy considers her most career notable achievement took place while working for Victoria's Secret, during which time she launched a campaign called "Try Me" in 2016. When she came aboard, within the existing 2 million databases of Victoria's Secret customers, they had 60 percent awareness of the sport category, however, only 20 percent were purchasing and buying into sport. To find a solution, she helped put together a focus group and conducted research to identify the challenge that the customers have where they did not see the trace as a sport authority. Through a test campaign, they tested different price points and promotions, and got the customers to try on the products, which was met with great success. In addition, Ms. Pouncy is proud that it was the first time Victoria's Secret showcased their models without any makeup, paving the way for the body and image positivity movement.
Ms. Pouncy commenced her career in the marketing realm working for JCPenney as an intern turned creative advertising assistant in 2004. Consistently matched for promotions due to her aptitude for the field, she also served as an associate marketing communications and coordination analyst, merchandise analyst and assistant buyer for e-commerce/catalog and senior marketing specialist for Sephora within the department store through 2012. Ms. Pouncy credits her early experiences at JCPenney as a pivotal chapter for her professional growth, as she found mentors that taught her lifelong lessons, such as Marianne Gonzalez. Notably, she was honored with a Marketing Excellence Award from JCPenney in 2005 and 2007, along with a Marketing Award from GameStop later in 2017.
In addition to the roles outlined, Ms. Pouncy has proven to be a "VIP" in her field, by translating her expertise for leading brands, across various industries while on the agency side. Looking ahead, Ms. Pouncy envisions herself to grow into the C-Suite as chief marketing officer.
