CHESTERFIELD, VA, April 27, 2023 - Anita H. Prince, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in adult education, Dr. Prince has earned distinction as the Assistant Superintendent for school operations with the Virginia Department of Corrections. From 2015 until her retirement in 2018, she focused her efforts on correctional education. Additionally, she lends her expertise to the Virginia Association for Adult and Continuing Education, having previously served as the president of the organization, and is a valued member of the Coalition on Adult Basic Education as well as the Association for Psychological Type. She worked for over two decades in child welfare work.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Prince began her career as a professional development coordinator with the Adult Education Resource Center of Virginia Commonwealth University in 1999 and was a program improvement specialist for the Virginia Department of Education's Office of Adult Education and Literacy in 2000. Following this time, she joined the Virginia Department of Correctional Education as an Assistant Superintendent for Academic Programs in 2004. In 2012, she was promoted to the Director of Academic Programs. Among her professional accomplishments, she is proud to have received an American Humane Association Award in the Children's Division for her work in child welfare.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Prince earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology and biology from Radford University in 1969. Following this accomplishment, she attained a Masters in adult education, social policy and social planning from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989 and a Doctor of Philosophy in education, social work and social policy from the same institution in 1995. Well-qualified in her field, she is certified in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT).
Within the coming years, Dr. Prince intends to continue her volunteer work to create a positive impact on her community. A lifelong learner herself, she is grateful to have been a mentor for five young women who were able to obtain their doctorate degrees in different areas.
