GLENDALE, AZ, April 24, 2023 - Marcus M. Bailey has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in youth development and motivational speaking, Mr. Bailey has earned distinction as a coach, teacher and athletic director for the Pan-American Charter. Since 2007, he has focused his efforts on teaching four physical education courses along with after school coaching. Mr. Bailey also fulfills the duty as the school's Athletic Director, which encompasses scheduling, transportation, securing equipment, fundraising and ensuring the department is operating appropriately according to HS CAA athletic policies.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Bailey began his career as an associate assistant and graduate assistant coach for the Grand Canyon University men's soccer team in 2005. While in this role, he also served as a coach for the CISCO Soccer Club from 2007 until 2014. He has coached Pan-American Charter School in 22 state championship games and has won a state record 20 titles. He also established an athletic program as the director in 2011, and since its foundation, the soccer teams have produced over a dozen students who have received athletic college scholarships for soccer around the country. Presently the boy's program has not lost a single game since the 2016-17 season and has eclipsed a 100-game winning streak.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Bailey is proud to have been featured in Voyage Phoenix in 2017. He was named as an All-Tournament Best 11 Player as the top goal scorer of the 2002 Yavapai College national championship men's soccer team. He has been honored with a record 16 State Coach of the Year awards by the Canyon Athletic Association (CAA). He received a Certificate of Recognition as a Teacher That Inspires from Bourgade Catholic High School and a Vinny Award for coaching in 2022 in Phoenix, AZ by the CAA.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Bailey earned an Associate's degree from Yavapai College in 2002 and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Grand Canyon University in 2005. Following these achievements, he attained a Master of Education with a specialization in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2007.
Within the coming years, Mr. Bailey intends to ensure that the athletic department is primed for success, leaving a positive and lasting legacy for future generations. Accounting for his success, he credits his God and savior Jesus Christ, his wife Kiera and his parents for being such an incredible support system and providing him with advice, guidance and encouragement throughout his life. He is also grateful to have collaborated with Mike Pantalione, Hugh Bell, Petar Draksin and Hannibal Najjar all coaches and mentors at different stages of his journey. Special consideration goes to Marta and Luis Pasos for opening the doors at Pan American Charter. Marcus especially thanks Mr. Todd Wade for being a driving factor and support system as the Director of operations at Pan American Charter School.
