HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. - May 19, 2021 - Local students to nominate Eric S. Yuan, CEO and Founder of Zoom Video Communications, Inc, to receive Reach the World's 2021 Cronkite Award for Excellence in Storytelling. Reach the World selected four student winners to nominate Mr. Yuan for the prestigious award during a celebration event on May 21, 2021. The 20th annual Reach the World benefit event will follow on June 10, 2021.

Classrooms across the United States will join in a celebration event on Zoom to nominate Mr. Yuan to receive Reach the World's 2021 Cronkite Award. Valentina Potts of Lincoln Elementary in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, will present her essay nomination to Mr. Yuan. Valentina is joined by three other students from Kentucky and New York who will present their work to Mr. Yuan.

Valentina wrote, "On March 16th my story changed. No longer was I able to go to school and play with my friends, but that wasn't all. I also couldn't compete in my final basketball game of the season, or practice soccer with my team like I used to. Zoom changed all of this! My story continued because of Zoom! Although I could only see my friends in small boxes on my computer screen, we continued to work and play together. Mr. Yuan helped the stories of our world live on, so if you ask me I totally think Mr. Yuan deserves this award!"
