ATLANTA - May 3, 2021 - ProcessMiner Inc., an artificial intelligence platform for the manufacturing industry, announced today that Dr. Stephen Vasconcellos, Ph.D., has been appointed to the company's Scientific Advisory Board.
"I am delighted to welcome Steve to our scientific board of advisors," said Karim Pourak, Co-founder and CEO of ProcessMiner. "He offers an extensive wealth of knowledge and an advantageous background in liquid and solid separations, wastewater treatment design and optimization, colloid science, polymer characterization and electrokinetics. We look forward to leveraging Steve's expertise and experience as we continue to build out our digital water treatment solutions for ProcessMiner customers."
Dr. Vasconcellos earned a B.S. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physical chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He completed the IRI Technology Manager Course at Harvard University and GE's TLDC (technical leader development course) in 2016.
Jacques Cousteau said, "We forget that the water cycle and the life cycle are one." Wastewater is part of that water cycle and is long overdue for a re-imagining. Smart system control using AI can be an integral part of that re-imagining platform for operating WW facilities more efficiently, more effectively, and more environmentally responsible. —Stephen Vasconcellos, Ph.D.
In 2007, Dr. Vasconcellos was co-chair of the Coagulants and Flocculants Symposium in Louisville, Ky., and in 2008 was co-chair of the Water Reuse Symposium in Orlando, Fla. In 1994, he earned the Pennsylvania DER Green Award. GE awarded him in 2005 with the "Best of the GE Betz" award and in 2006 with the Edison Award. In 2006, he also earned the Spirit of Innovation Award. In 2015, he was acknowledged by Water Quality Professional magazine as a 20 for 20 icon.
