LOS ANGELES - April 30, 2021 - After being told to stay home to stay safe for more than a year, even the world's most ardent socialistas are reluctant to dip their toes back into the water of social life.
One early stage tech startup founded by a Black, woman entrepreneur is aiming to bridge the gap with a new lifestyle app for connecting people with the experiences they've been craving since the pandemic started.
Fountful, an end-to-end app solution, allows anyone in Southern California to get social or personal services delivered to them. The goal is to help both users and providers untether from the idea that place determines experiences like haircuts, bartenders, and even entertainment. With Fountful, users can access dynamic experiences by instantly booking appointments at a location of their choosing.
After launching a private beta on Valentine's Day of this year, Fountful is now in open beta mode. The open beta will be available through the end of summer.
With Fountful, consumers are able to slowly and safely re-engage with the outside world as amenity service providers who took a hit during pandemic lockdowns connect with new clients via an equitable and democratic marketplace.
"After more than a year in lockdown, people everywhere are torn between wanting to socialize but feeling guilty about it," said Fountful founder and CEO Madilynn A. Beck. "We believe Fountful is the answer. You can host an event with your crew and a CDC compliant Fountful specialist without the fear of affecting everyone around you. Simply put, it's a new and safe way to enjoy the things we already love."
In addition to launching the marketplace app, Fountful's nonprofit arm Fountful U supports solo business owners in lifestyle service industries by offering no-to-low-cost resources, trade insights, eLectures, scholarships, and community.
"We're the first to create a place for gig workers and solopreneurs in lifestyle industries to learn how to sustainably build their businesses in addition to the platform on which to offer their services," Beck said. "At Fountful, we're all about building the culture that'll critically impact the growth of our economy."
