TALLINN, Estonia - April 20, 2021 - A manufacturer in Estonia of high-quality plywood for export around the world has installed AKCP Wireless Tunnel™ temperature sensors in their kiln drying area. The facility had suffered water damage caused by rogue activation of the fire suppression system. In the previous system, sprinklers were controlled by the expansion of glycerin in a glass bulb. When heated the expansion breaks the bulb and the water flows from the sprinkler head. Temperatures in the kiln drying areas can often exceed 49°C (120°F) up to 87°C (190°F).
To monitor the temperature in the facility and ensure that it is maintained below the trigger point of the sprinkler system a centralized monitoring system was needed. AKCP wireless sensors were selected due to their reliability, long-range, and low power consumption. Being wireless the sensors were easy to install where required without the need for power or communication cables. They can also be relocated as necessary.
a hydraulic hot plate press. The press has up to 50 plates each heated to 110°C. 50 sheets of plywood can be manufactured at one time in a single press. The sheets are kept under pressure and heat until the resin and glue used to laminate the sheets are cured.
AKCP Wireless Tunnel sensors are built on LoRa chirp spread spectrum radio technology. They provide long-range and low-power communications with up to 10 years of battery life. It has superior characteristics when compared with other wireless sensor technologies such as Zigbee. AKCP has layered upon the LoRa hardware, their proprietary protocol known as the Wireless Tunnel. With no reliance on the internet or cloud services, it is an end-to-end private LoRa network with local reporting and alerts.
AKCP wired and Wireless Tunnel monitoring system is available now. Contact sales@akcp.com for more details. The solution was supplied by Co.Comelon the AKCP dealer in Estonia.
AKCP established in the USA in 1981, has 30+ years experience in professional sensor solutions.
