FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - April 8, 2021 - When the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2019 was signed into law August 13, 2018, the law included a ban of federal government equipment purchases from named (including OEM) manufacturers. One of GovComm's contract manufacturers was subject to the ban, so it was time for GovComm to make changes. Although the NDAA included a two-year federal phase-in provision for the ban, many state departments of transportation piggy-backed the law or applied the law to specific categories of equipment and utilized alternate means to phase the ban in over an extended period. GovComm responded by developing and now releasing its Series 2 ITS camera systems which are compliant with the NDAA and qualify for all federal and state purchasing.
Besides NDAA compliance, GovComm's new camera systems provide superior video imagery and include important new security features. GovComm's Series 2 PTZ dome style cameras are available in 2-megapixel resolution with an extended 40X optical focal length. Series 2 bullet style cameras are scheduled for release later this month featuring 4K resolution, a remote controlled motorized zoom lens and infrared illuminators.
GovComm understands harsh environments. The Series 2 camera systems have been laboratory tested to certify compliance with NEMA TS2 standards and are also resilient to high velocity wind-loads. GovComm also extended the camera's surge protection to further protect against electrical transients.
