WASHINGTON, D.C., D.C. - April 5, 2021 - Altavoz Distribution & Entertainment independent music and entertainment company specializing in distribution, marketing and sales, has appointed its co-founder and past president, Jessamyn Sarmiento, as chairman of its Board of Directors. Ms. Sarmiento brings more than 20 years of experience in global marketing and communications, with a career spanning the private sector, government, nonprofit and media sectors.
Following the successful launch of Altavoz in 2011, Ms. Sarmiento orchestrated the growth of its product catalogue and designed a sales and marketing strategy that resulted in numerous top hits on the Billboard and iTunes charts. During her tenure, she also launched an international channel for Altavoz products and established distribution services for books and other merchandise.

Ms. Sarmiento brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Altavoz, as well as political acumen. She was appointed to serve at The White House and the U.S. Agency for International Development by President Clinton and at the National Endowment for the Arts by President Obama. In her current role as chief marketing officer for World Food Program USA, the U.S affiliate for the United Nations World Food Program, Ms. Sarmiento is responsible for leading a team to develop and implement high-impact, multi-channel marketing and communications strategies. While serving at the National Endowment for the Arts, she produced the twice Emmy-nominated video series, the United States of Arts. Prior to that, she was senior vice president and partner at global communications firm Fleishman-Hillard, where she grew and managed a highly successful consumer marketing practice. She also served as vice president for communications at National Public Radio (NPR).
