LOUISVILLE, Ky. - March 17, 2021 - Responding to customers wanting to purchase spices at their factory, which is closed to the public for health and safety reasons, online spice company Pinch Spice Market has created the world's first spice vending machine. Shoppers can now easily stop by and pick up spices with a swipe of a credit card.
"We're an online shop, we don't have a traditional brick and mortar store. This has saved us a lot of headache during the pandemic, but we still want to be accessible to our local supporters," says Meaghan Thomas, co-owner of Pinch Spice Market. "A spice vending machine just seemed like the perfect solution."
The vending machine, a first of its kind, was built by D&S Vending, Inc and designed by Morgan Melto, Art Director and Designer of The T!lt Group. It's located in Louisville at The Mellwood Arts Center at 1860 Mellwood Ave. Suite #268, just inside the doors near the rear loading dock. It's open to the public everyday, 8am-10pm EST, and only accepts credit cards.
"With the pandemic, people are cooking and burning through their spice cabinets like never before," says Thomas. "Now our vending machine is here for them to browse fresh spices in person, without other people actually around."
To celebrate the launch, they're giving away a KitchenAid stand mixer and a selection of their organic spices (estimated value $550). You can get 10 entries by visiting them in Louisville, taking a picture with the machine, and sharing it on social with #pinchspicemarket. If you're not in Louisville, you can photoshop yourself into a picture with the machine and post it on social media with the same hashtag to enter. Contest ends June 30, 2021 and details are on their website.
