GALLUP, N.M. - March 3, 2021 - The Gallup Elks Lodge continues to be active and responsive to community needs during the COVID19 pandemic despite being closed for nearly a year to date. Jon Fouser, Exalted Ruler has worked actively with members of Gallup Lodge #1440 to support much needed services during the past year. The membership voted on initiative for submission of Gratitude grant through Elks National Foundation in May of 2020 which was awarded $2000.00 to Gallup Lodge in efforts to support local first responders. The objective was to assist with much needed personal protective equipment and hygiene supplies in critical shortage through the pandemic.
" I couldn't be more proud of our lodge and the way members have stepped up to help the community over the past year." said Fouser. "We have disbursed $20,000.00 in cash, an additional $13,000.00 in non-cash and put in over 1,000 hours in volunteer efforts during the pandemic." according to Fouser.
Gallup Fire & Police Department are critical to public safety during this pandemic. Keeping officers protected from this viscous virus that has impacted so many in our local community. The donation of two cordless ULV Cold foggers with three bottles of disinfectant will assist both departments in disinfection of equipment and vehicles from COVID19. The total cost of equipment and supplies is a little more than $2000.00 "but well worth it" according to Fire Chief Jesus (Chuy) Morales of Gallup Fire.
