COQUITLAM, British Columbia - Feb. 17, 2021 - The store features wooden animals in the Waldorf style - simple lines and minimal details to inspire imagination. A Vancouver Mom, Jahzel Hintay, initially designed the toys after learning about wood toxicity and harsh sealants that would inevitably end up in her baby's mouth.
"Wood is natural, but that doesn't mean it's safe for our kids. Trees produce toxins that protect them against insects and fungus - Unfortunately, these toxins can also irritate or even cause a severe allergic reaction in people." - Jahzel Hintay
Alex & Cora embodies wood safety and education, open-ended play, and sustainability. Every step of the way, every decision is taken considering its impact on Mother Earth. Paints and stains are made with plastic-free ingredients, oils are used instead of harsh chemicals, and recycled paper packaging is used for shipping.
