CLINTON, La. - Feb. 2, 2021 - Due to COVID-19 concerns, the Feliciana work group will hold a virtual meeting via Microsoft Teams. This format will allow the work group to meet and communicate safely, in spite of the challenges posed by the pandemic. Topics to be discussed will include concerns regarding natural resources on agricultural lands, including but not limited to, soil erosion and sediment, flooding, water quality, irrigation, nutrient management, prescribed grazing, habitat loss, and livestock watering. Each of these issues affects farmers and landowners in both East and West Feliciana parishes and input from the public is imperative. Representatives from the following will be present at this meeting: United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) and Feliciana Soil and Water Conservation District (Feliciana SWCD). These agencies' programs incorporate wetlands and erosion prevention services, pond boring, cattle, conservation of wetlands, and other aspects of farming and land conservation efforts and their efforts lead the way in 21st Century farming and conservation efforts throughout the parishes.
The public is strongly encouraged to become proactive in providing input and concerns so that issues can be properly addressed in the future.
