TIGARD, Ore. - Jan. 30, 2021 - It is very refreshing to hear Javier Hala Madrid speak about the political situation in his country. He leaves no room for doubt, he calls the Maduro government "dictatorship" and those who exercise power in Venezuela, "criminals."
This 27-year-old can do more than an army. With the humorous videos of him, which go viral, he puts the madurismo against the wall and the Venezuelans to laugh in the midst of so much tragedy.
"It is no secret to anyone that, like many of us, I cannot set foot in Venezuela because I am going directly to Helicoide [the prison of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN). I just get off the plane and they put the hooks [handcuffs] on me. I have received multiple threats there, "says the comedian in an interview with el Nuevo Herald.
A few years ago, Javier David Romero - that's his real name - was yet another Venezuelan in Miami, taking elementary English lessons to learn how to order a hamburger at McDonald's.
From his home in Doral, Hala Madrid began making the videos that made him a social media favorite. Today, the business administration graduate has 3.2 million followers on Instagram, 2 million on Facebook, and more than 389,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.
