FORT MYERS, Fla. - Jan. 7, 2021 - Quigley Eye Specialists, which is a Southwest Florida leader in the diagnosis and treatment of vision disorders, is pleased to announce that St. Lucy's Eye Surgery Center and Community Eye Center have merged with Quigley Eye Specialists.
St. Lucy's Eye Surgery Center and Community Eye Center are owned and operated by ophthalmologists Joseph W. Spadafora, D. O., and Eric R. Schaible. M.D.
Dr. Joseph W. Spadafora, D.O. is the medical director of the Community Eye Center and has more than 30 years of experience in ophthalmology. During the past three decades, he has performed research in ocular anti-inflammatory agents, glaucoma, medicines, ocular antibiotic agents and laser-guided cataract extraction at St. Lucy's Eye Surgery Center. He also has served as assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of South Florida, Tampa.
Dr. Eric R. Schaible, M.D., FACS, is the eye research director at Community Eye Center and specializes in complex cataract surgery, trauma, premium lens implants and treatment of astigmatism. With 24 years of experience, Dr. Schaible has written numerous papers on neurosurgery and ophthalmology, including corneal surgery and optic neuropathy. He also has conducted research on laser cataract surgery.
Community Eye Center joins 16 other locations under Quigley Eye Specialists ownership in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties.

Community Eye Center, which has been providing quality eye care for 40 years, will continue to provide care from their offices at 21275 Olean Boulevard in Port Charlotte, 1331 S. Sumter Boulevard in North Port and 1988 S Tamiami Trail in Venice. No operational changes are planned because of the merger.
In addition to the three Community Eye locations, patients may be seen at any Quigley Eye Specialists office.
