WASHINGTON - Dec. 29, 2020 - Washington, DC - The Interfaith Primary School of North America (IPSNA) announced today their fall 2021-2022 inaugural school calendar year where scholars in grades 4th-8th will learn more about their individual religion through an educational lens versus a devotional one which is often experienced at their respected places of worship. The IPSNA student will excel in areas of science, math, language arts, and religious literacy through the daily engagement of cutting edge, tech-savvy, project-based learning in a multi-faceted socio-economic and cultural community. This will create greater links and migration between societies of different faiths and cultures. Students will be academically profound and awake.
Founding Chair and parent, Devonda Waker, is excited about opening the Nation's first interfaith, religious private elementary/middle school located in Takoma Park, DC. Walker mentioned, "I was inspired to open IPSNA while searching for a wholesome yet diverse elementary school for my daughters. My search started in the DMV, then expanded it to the entire east coast, which led to my nationwide search." When I realized there were zero options, I was disappointed and shocked! I honestly believed this idea should have already been created." Walker learned almost instantaneously how provocative such a concept was and began moving quickly to change this disappointing cultural climate. She continues, "All major progress this country has experienced began in the schools and with children and should continue. Our cultural climate is evident that the time is now, and that school is IPSNA."
Another exclusive note to point out is IPSNA is tuition-free. Serving also as the school's Executive Director, Walker delights in fundraising as IPSNA wanted to level the applicant pool by attracting productive brains vs families wallets. "Fundraising while extremely hands-on has been pleasantly well received. Traditionally after the donor has reviewed IPSNA's initiative and visited our website, the check is practically waiting for us at the door. We are extremely grateful! Philanthropists understand the need for a school like ours and it says something dynamic about their organizations' integrity, culture, and moral code when they choose to support IPSNA."
"This is the unicorn of schools or the game changer," says Nancy Suh.
IPSNA is excited to share their calendar, agenda, recent staff hires, and news with prospective families, students, staff, and the community. The goal is to address the fears and concerns of parents and staff and provide solutions as enrollment continues to decline in schools (https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/04/us/school-enrollment-drops...) during COVID-19.
