December 11, 2020 - Wendi L. Dumbroff, MA, LPC, was a recent guest on “Ready For Love” Summit where she was interviewed by Host Iris Benrubi. On the show, Dumbroff advised how to create an emotionally fulfilling and intimate relationship with a partner.
Dumbroff emphasized a fulfilling relationship is different for everyone. “There is no one truth. What is fulfilling for me may not be fulfilling for someone else.” She continued, “It's about how can someone create the situation that works for them.”
During the discussion, Dumbroff suggested that having an awareness of your own upbringing and habitual behaviours can influence the decisions you make in a relationship. “When you have awareness, you also have choice,” Dumbroff explained.
Dumbroff also pointed out that oftentimes triggers do not come from the other person in the relationship but instead from within oneself. “Most of the time, it’s not about the other person but it's about what gets triggered in us when something happens. It doesn’t mean the other person is right or wrong but what's more important is ‘What am I experiencing now that this interaction has occurred?’”
