TOPEKA, Kan. - Nov. 23, 2020 - Home Baking Association (HBA) officers were elected at the recent virtual annual membership meeting. Courtney Gaine, President and CEO, The Sugar Association serves as President of the Home Baking Association. Other officers include Stephanie Petersen, Corporate Executive R & D Chef Panhandle Milling Company as First Vice-President and Julene DeRouchey, Nutrition Educator Kansas Wheat Commission as Second Vice-President.
Elected to three year terms on the board of directors were Ardent Mills, Colorado Wheat, Grain Craft, Shawnee Milling Company and Texas Wheat Producers Board. Renwood Mills was elected to a two year term and The French Pastry School was elected to a one year term.
Other board of directors are: American Sugar Refining, Panhandle Milling Company, Stone Buhr Flour Company, The Sugar Association, Kansas Wheat, Hopkinsville Milling, Oklahoma Wheat Commission and North Dakota Mill.
Courtney Gaine, HBA President, reported the association reached 7.25 million educators and the bakers they reach during the last year. The non-profit association targets anyone who teaches or fosters home baking skills. From classroom to community programs to the parent at home; the association provides a multitude of teaching aids using mixes to scratch baking resources. Gaine reported the association shifted gears this year with the pandemic and provided the Distance Learning microsite at www.homebaking.org and virtual programs to seize the opportunity to reach the skyrocketing number of bakers looking to gain baking skills.
The Home Baking Association has 33 voting members representing corporations and associations that work together to serve baking educators.
