BOULDER, Colo. - Nov. 18, 2020 - Colorado Cleantech Industries Association (CCIA) awarded Canadian company FLITE Material Sciences Corp with a $5,000 prize at the seventh annual Oil & Gas Cleantech Challenge (OGCC) on November 12, 2020. Second place went to Veros Systems and third place went to Modumetal. CCIA hosted their flagship cleantech challenge event virtually. The OGCC works to connect clean energy and technology businesses to the oil and natural gas industry.
The winning innovation from FLITE is laser-based technology that changes the surface topology of materials to make them attract or repel water and oil without using any chemical coatings.
The company's founder Dan Cohen said that "The CCIA Oil and Gas Cleantech Challenge was a privilege - an opportunity to showcase our potential in front of investors, partners and customers. We're grateful to the organizers, and judges for their diligence and open mindedness, giving all these early stage technologies a shot at changing the world".
