IRVINE, Calif. - Nov. 11, 2020 - Lions Clubs International is hosting a virtual global diabetes summit on World Diabetes Day, Physicians and experts in diabetes from around the world will speak about a variety of topics regarding diabetes.
The event will be held Saturday November 14, 2020 at 9:00 AM PST.
Tracey D. Brown CEO of the American Diabetes Association will be the keynote speaker. Tracey will be speaking about how the American Diabetes Association has been involved with diabetes projects globally and not just in the United State.
Other speakers will present topics about new technologies in diabetes, the latest screening programs in how Lions Clubs International are detecting diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is the top causes of blindness. You will hear from physicians in Nairobi Kenya how Lions Clubs created a diabetes care center providing thousands of people with diabetes care where otherwise would not have.

Today, one in eleven adults are estimated to be living with diabetes. People that have diabetes is approaching 465 million people worldwide. 187 million of those people do not know they have diabetes.
Lions Clubs International and the International Diabetes Federation has a partnership in the global fight against diabetes. The two organizations are working together to help prevent diabetes and improve the quality of life for those living with diabetes worldwide.
