NEW YORK - Nov. 10, 2020 - Spickum Publishing reporting....Joe Simon, Grammy award winner, former rhythm and blues singer and the Mouth of the South, now Bishop Joe Simon, and Dr. E. Faye Williams, National President of the National Congress of Black Women headquartered in Washington, D.C., congratulate the members of the National Congress of Black Women for their hard work and success during our online registration drive resulting in the election of Joe Biden for President and Kamala Harris, the first woman, the first Black American, and the first South Asian American elected to Vice President in U.S. history, as well as the new Black Congressmen and women. Bishop Simon says, "We are now positioned as a people to help and support the State of Georgia, as well as other places."

Dr. Williams said, "It was a great honor for our sisters of the National Congress of Black Women to work with Bishop Simon on Voter Registration. With his leadership we were able to heavily impact voter registration at a time in the lives of people who were afraid to leave home to register, but knew they wanted to vote this year as never before. The increase in voter registration allowed more people to vote than in any other election in our country. While we represent women in NCBW, the Online Voter Registration drive was open to people of all races all political persuasions and both men and women. Both Dr. Williams and Bishop Simon have for the past year reached out to men and women across the country to register and to vote. When you look at the final vote count you will see that there were a lot of new registrants and a lot of new voters. Both Bishop Simon and I are pleased to make Voter Registration a top priority and it is paying off."

During the 1960s and '70s, Joe Simon was one of the foremost stars in the soul and R&B field. The Simmesport, Louisiana native launched his secular singing career on the West Coast at the dawn of the '60s and quickly rose to prominence with a string of mid-'60s hits that included "Let's Do Ot Over," "My Special Prayer," and "Nine Pound Steel," Simon's 1969 smash "The Chokin' Kind" topped the R&B charts and went gold. He continued his winning streak through the 70s with many more massive-selling soul classics led by "Drowning in The Sea Of Love," "Power Of Love." "Theme From Cleopatra Jones, " and "Get Down, Get Down (Get On The Floor)" before heeding a call from a higher power in 1988 and ending his secular career to preach the word of the Lord. Since then, Bishop Joe Simon has been a tireless champion for both his ministry and civil rights for the citizens of America.
