Alana Joanne Engages Listeners With a Different Perspective of Mental Illness

DELAND, Fla. - Sept. 28, 2020 - Alana Joanne is no stranger to the music scene. In fact, spend any amount of time on her website alanajoannemusic.com and you'll find that she has preferred the music scene for quite some time now. Going through extensive interviews and her photo gallery you can see that Alana Joanne may have been destined for the limelight from the get-go. With high energy pop-ballads and driving alternative music from the earlier parts of Joanne's career, "Dear Depression" comes out of the woodworks ready to do some Phil Swift level's of damage to your soul.

"Dear Depression" is an excellent piece to say the least of my collective opinion. Getting to know Alana one thing becomes painfully present - She is not in this for herself. Artists and musicians often have difficulties connecting with their fans or followers but this has never seemed the case for this rising star. Time and time again she seems to be able to resonate with those who are meant to hear her music and drum up something in those who didn't go into the song looking for anything. I think the best thing about Alana Joanne is she is so eager to give even herself away in these pieces of work that the level of dedication that has been put in resonates throughout the catalog.

While "Dear Depression" may be a nice ode to those who suffer or are around those who suffer from mental illness it's not the whole fight and Alana knows this. Starting in 2018, Joanne started working with an Australian group called Headspace, a local organization that helps youth suffering from mental illness. Seeking closure in her own life from previous traumas and seeing her music as a mode of transport to spread the word, she sold tickets for a Headspace sponsored concert and made sure more than 60% of the proceeds went to that same organization. From there on, Alana Joanne's battle with depression has not only been very personal, but very much physical and manifesting itself in the real world. "Dear Depression" is an essential addition to Joanne's catalog for the sheer fact that it is important to her to spread this message of hope to those who may need to hear it. Outside of its impact, it does an excellent job encompassing Joanne's range and versatility.
