The Advanced Driver Assistance patent portfolio contains 35 patents and covers significant technology related to automated vehicle assistance with priority dates as early as 2004 and technology applications including auto-drive, engine shutoff, active suspension, platooning, and determining proximity using LiDAR.
Key patent families are applicable to solutions provided by all major automobile and vehicle manufacturers. One key patent covers the use of a laser to determine distance to an object, providing speed-dependent alerts to the driver. Many vehicles currently utilize the claimed LiDAR range finders. Vitek IP has documentation of use by major auto manufacturers as a key component of their autonomous driving systems.
Two additional key patents in the Advanced Driver Assistance portfolio cover use of acceleration data to control vehicle performance systems used in many automobiles, ATVs, off-road vehicles, and motorcycles. Most active driving dynamics management systems that adjust suspension and shock systems according to acceleration data utilize the patented technology.
A fourth key patent is directed to a communication system for vehicles to transmit changes in speed between each other. The patented technology is commonly applied to platooning methods employed by major trucking companies, and it is anticipated that it will be utilized by automobiles in the near future.
A fifth key patent is directed toward engine shut-off technology when idling, such as those used in remote start, idle safety, and ECO start-stop features.
