GREEN BAY, Wis. - Sept. 15, 2020 - Wisconsin Drug Testing Consortium stands ready to help meet requirements
DOT drug compliance testing requirements are one of the few constants during the COVID-19 era that has been anything but normal for the transportation industry. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reminds employers that DOT drug compliance testing requirements remain in place for those capable of meeting them.
The FMCSA previously had announced it may relax enforcement of certain DOT drug compliance testing requirements for employers who were facing challenges during the ongoing pandemic.
Wisconsin Drug Testing Consortium (WDTC) is working with employers to complete their required 50% drug and 10% alcohol tests prior to the end of the year. Time already is running short to schedule a significant number of tests, making it imperative that owners refocus their efforts on meeting DOT drug compliance testing requirements.
DOT drug compliance testing is as important as ever
Employers and owner-operators are urged to take DOT drug compliance testing as seriously as ever. Any leeway that FMCSA offers in meeting these requirements depends on the severity of unusual circumstances your organization is facing during this time. It is not something you want to take for granted.
FMCSA requires employers to provide written documentation explaining why you were not able to meet DOT drug testing requirements. Simply stating that testing facilities or testing personnel were unavailable will not be good enough. You will need to document the efforts you made to look for alternative testing resources.
WDTC is open and actively working with employers to complete DOT drug compliance testing requirements. Call us today to schedule testing for your organization.
