WILTON, Conn. - Sept. 14, 2020 - BPC Green Builders, Inc. and its owners, Mike and Chris Trolle, were awarded the Energize Connecticut's Zero Energy Challenge Award program's Peter Harding Service Award. This award was established to recognize individuals and businesses who have, over time, contributed to building highly energy-efficient homes in Connecticut.
BPC Green Builders, established in 1998, won the Peter Harding Service Award in recognition of BPC's long history of and dedication to building high-performance, near-zero and zero energy homes, and for having won four Zero Energy Challenge Awards for homes it has built. BPC earned the Connecticut Zero Energy Challenge Awards for projects in 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2010. BPC Green Builders was one of the very first home builders in Connecticut to build custom green homes.
Mike Trolle said, "This award is especially gratifying to me because it recognizes that BPC is not a newcomer to green home building but has a long history of building energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable homes." Chris Trolle said, "It's nice to see our company's body of work and our focus on green, energy-efficient, and sustainable home building recognized. Back when BPC first started, most people were not thinking much about energy efficiency and sustainable home building. Now many more people recognize the need for this type of home."
In addition to the Peter Harding Service Award, BPC has also won numerous other green home building awards, including five US Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home National Housing Innovations Awards. These Housing Innovation Awards were won in 2020, 2017, 2015, 2014, and 2013. BPC also has many awards from the US Green Building Council Connecticut Chapter since BPC's first USGBC award in 2008.
BPC built its first Zero Energy Ready Home in 2007, shortly after the certification was established.
