BRISBANE, Australia - Sept. 2, 2020 - Great Northern Brewing Co has tapped into the fastest growing segment of the Australian beer market with the launch of its first Queensland-made non-alcoholic brew, Great Northern Zero.
Antonia Ciorciari of Great Northern Brewing Co. said the company's foray into the non-alcoholic beer market - expected to be worth $34.4 billion worldwide by 2024 - reflected the booming demand among Queenslanders for alcohol-free beer options.
"The non-alcoholic beer category has doubled in Australia in the past year and sales through bottle shops and other off premise sites have increased 30-fold when compared with the same period in 2017/18," Ms Ciorciari said.
"Men and women are both seeking non-alcoholic beer with the strongest demand coming from those aged 25 – 45.
"Our fans are an outdoorsy lot who want the freedom to 4WD, boat, fish, kayak, hike or simply drive home from the pub and still enjoy a cold Great Northern with their mates.
"Zero looks like a Great Northern and has the easy-drinking taste of a Great Northern, the only thing missing is the alcohol so we're confident it will be a hit with Queenslanders this summer."
One bloke who knows what it's like to be busy in the great outdoors and likes a coldie is Outback Wrangler, Matt Wright.
Jumping from choppers to boats and onto crocs, Matt gets why a non-alcohol beer is a winner.
"Be it out on the boat with the family, looking for a rogue croc on the air boat or heli fishing with the boys, you sometimes would like to snap the cap on a coldie but it's just not an option," he said.
"Great Northern Zero means I can get in on the action and still partake in a cold beer on a hot day. It's a bloody ripper idea!
"What I also love is the Great Northern Zero recipes were tested and selected by Queenslanders. We know we can trust the folk from up here know a thing or two about good beer."
Despite being non-alcoholic, Great Northern Zero is marketed to adults in strict accordance with the Alcohol Beverages Advertising Code.
It has already been given the nickname the Blue Marlin following on from drinkers now commonly referring to Great Northern Super Crisp as the Black Marlin and the Original as the White Marlin.
The brewers of Great Northern describe their Zero beer as having a fruity aroma which carries through to the palate with a subtle bitterness which finishes clean and crisp.
Great Northern Zero will initially be sold only in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Great Northern Zero will be soon stocked in supermarkets, cafes, bars, hotels and bottle shops throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory.
