Author Bryson Thompson releases "How Angels Are Made", a children's book about loss and healing

ATLANTA - Aug. 27, 2020 - A journey nearly four years in the making is finally becoming a reality just in time for National Grief Awareness Day on August 30, 2020. Atlanta based entrepreneur and author Bryson Thompson Sr. is proud to release "How Angels Are Made: A Journey of Love, Grief, and Understanding Through the Eyes of a Child", his first children's book written in honor of his late mother Gwendolyn Tanner.

The book comes at a necessary time due to the historic loss endured during the COVID19 pandemic. Based on a true story about the bond between Thompson's eldest son, BJ, and his grandmother, "How Angels Are Made" is a transformational children's book that fosters needed conversations between youth and adults about grief and death. The book chronicles what happened as the Thompson family navigated the conversation about what happened to BJ's grandmother following her untimely passing.

To honor the birthday of Thompson's late mother, on May 2, 2020 he launched his first Kickstarter campaign, gaining the support of more than 150 donors and surpassing his goal of raising nearly $8,000 in just 30 days. Due to the overwhelming support of the campaign, Thompson will now be able to give 250 free books to local schools, libraries, and children identified as having lost a loved one or friend.

Studies by Kenneth Doka show that, "one out of five children in the U.S. will experience the death of someone close to them before they reach the age of 18". Thompson's life work as a mentor and professional experiences as a Special Education teacher and Behavioral Specialist, ignited his passion to help adults understand that children also need to have these important conversations about often taboo topics that affect our mental health. "It's also ideal for schools, therapists, church groups and more. My hope is that this book will be a tool to help change lives."

"How Angels Are Made" is now available for purchase online at howangelsaremade.com and also available on Amazon and Kindle. For media requests, contact Keiona Eady at keiona@theauthenticmessenger.com.
