108 Teachings: The Path to the True Self by Yogmata Keiko Aikawa

"An immeasurable and mysterious world exists in the universe, beyond the understanding of the most advanced science. Surprisingly, more than five thousand years ago, Himalayan Masters knew every detail about the smallest materials. They were able to access the world beyond these materials and hold sway over them. Through ascetic training they gained access to this immeasurable world…."

A book to open our hearts, 108 Teachings is a unique introduction to Himalayan Wisdom and a distillation of Yogmata-Ji's core message: "I am here to guide you on a journey of transformation to expand your consciousness and help you reconnect to the sacred source," she writes. The lessons of the book are wide ranging, touching on many facets of our self-ascribed limitations, which, with patience and love, Yogmata-Ji helps us vanquish. The focused, incisive, and caring nature of 108 Teachings makes it a perfect companion to daily meditation, the practice of which will place the reader on a unique path of discovery and self-realization: "In this book, beginning with examining the mind and clarifying worry and suffering, I explained the unlimited power, which lies in the world of nothingness, and why exactly people are born."

"A charming collection of transcendent teachings delivered urgently and elegantly."

Yogmata-Ji Key Biographical Details:

1. She is the first woman and first non-Indian in history to be recognized as Mahamandaleshwar, or Supreme Master of the Universe, by Juna Akhara in India. While in terms of the human horizon this designation is a high mark, to be the first woman to be so recognized is groundbreaking and a welcome change in our time in which so many forms of privilege are being upended.

2. She has performed eighteen public Samadhis, a supreme yogic practice in which one is sealed in an air-tight, underground pit without food or water for seventy-two to ninety-six hours. While the confirmation of spiritual attainment is often nebulous, surviving Samadhi is incontrovertible.

3. An early promoter of yoga in Japan, Yogmata's international charitable works today include the Yogmata Foundation, dedicated to funding mobile hospitals to remote villages in India, and an on-going series of United Nations' conferences dedicated to universal peace, sustainable living and the leadership of women. Her global mission is to bring love and kindness to all. Yogmata-Ji is an exemplary humanitarian.
