HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y. - Aug. 17, 2020 - Emerging transgender visual artist Jacob Clayton is thrilled to share his Matrix-inspired work at Davis Orton Gallery's Sixth Annual Group Show. The large mixed-media piece contains streaming code of X and Y chromosomes that come together to reveal a portrait of the artist. It speaks to the meaning of the word "binary", specifically as it relates to gender, and the ways we're all programmed to think about male and female, and largely unaware of how that thinking controls us.
Juried by Paula Tognarelli, Executive Director & Curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography, this fine-art exhibition features photography and photo-based works from 51 artists. A wide variety of techniques and processes are represented.
