SR for Black Voices, a retrospective of documentaries, streams online August 21-22

NEW YORK - Aug. 12, 2020 -SR Socially Relevant Film Festival 2020 (SRFF 2020) hosts an online event focusing on the Black experience with documentaries from the festival's previous seven editions. Four programs depicting films related to Black Lives Matter will be streamed online free of charge on August 21-22.

Each program of films is followed by a short Q&A with the filmmakers. Longer "Meet the Filmmakers" LIVE online sessions starting Monday, August 17 at 5:30 PM EST continue daily until Thursday, and will feature the filmmakers in a talk with guest moderators award-winning Chef Jeff Henderson and New York film critic Louis Proyect. All the film and talk programs are free and open to the public. Donations will be shared with EJI, Reel Works, and ACLU.

Festival Founder and Artistic Director Nora Armani says, "SRFF has been screening films that deal with the Black experience since its inaugural season in 2014. We are grateful to the filmmakers who have agreed to make their films available in this retrospective so we can all celebrate the growing strength of the Black Lives Matter movement."

The eight edition of SRFF scheduled for March 2021 will cover a broad range of socially relevant™ stories on climate change, gun control, health care, the Middle East, refugees, indigenous people, LGBTQ rights, and more. Submissions are open on Filmfreeway.com.
